Artist Statement

After painting for 22 years, I started to school and graduated with a BFA in Studio Art in 1998. It is here I realized how much I love symbolism.

Several months after graduation , I decided to express my feelings about a very important part of my life, Jesus Christ. This is not always an easy subject to broach due to the excessive criticism Christianity receives both in the media and the art world. I want to show what it really means to me and others like me. Of coarse, this is a personal view.

Once I decide the core idea, extensive research follows. The idea then is broken down into segments which become individual paintings. Style is considered and decided according to how the idea is to be portrayed. Symbols are then chosen and composed to fit the idea. The last step is the actual painting process.

I do not expect the viewer to translate every symbol but hopefully will be intriqued by the portrayal of my belief.
